Reasons Why Cellulose Sponges Are Better Than A Plastic Alternative
A sponge is a sponge, right? Absolutely not! Regular cleaning sponges are made from Polyurethane, a petroleum-based ingredient, which means, conventional sponges are made from oil-based plastic.
What about a sponge that is fully biodegradable, compositable and more absorbent that your everyday sponge? Our cellulose sponges are made from natural wood fibres which are fully biodegradable after use (and can even be home composted), which means they'll break down to nothing, making them a more suitable and eco-friendlier alternative to traditional chemical filled plastic sponges. Here are some of our favourite reasons as to why cellulose sponges are a superior alternative to plastic sponges.
They’re plastic free!
Conventional sponges are made from Mother Nature’s least favourite substance: oil-based, landfill-clogging plastic. Synthetic sponges can't be recycled or composted. Our cellulose spongesare biodegradable, and compostable when buried, which means its properties are 100% earth friendly. At the end of their life, simply put in your green waste bin, your compost bin, or bury in the garden to return to the circle of life.
They’re super absorbent!
Our cellulose sponges are full of tiny holes inside to absorb and hold liquid while you use it and can even soak up to 10 times their own dry weight! Pretty impressive, hey? Its material paired with a top layer of Sisal, a natural agavematerial that yields a stiff fibre, can last through some fairly tough cleaning jobs. They work well on bathroom surfaces and countertops as well as dishes and everyday spills. You can even cut them into smaller sizes to provide more uses out of each sponge.
