A Guide to Solid Shampoo Bars

A Guide to Solid Shampoo Bars

Read our guide to the natural and low waste solid shampoo bar options available at My Little Eco Shop.

Why Plastic Free Shampoo?

Plastic bottles: Just think about all of the water, laundry detergent, shampoo, cleaning supplies, and so much more that we use on a daily basis that comes in a plastic bottle. It takes on average anywhere from 70 to 450 years for them to decompose in a landfill!

Over a year, the average person throws away over 20 plastic shampoo & conditioner bottles. Zero-Waste shampoo bars are the perfect solution, packaged plastic free and developed with recyclable packaging. Shampoo Bars are the latest trend that will dramatically reduce the average person’s plastic waste every year.

Why Natural Shampoo?

Some of the benefits of switching to shampoo bars aren’t just in the reduction of plastic. Due to their more natural qualities, they can help increase hair volume, make your hair grow faster and provide you with more healthy hair! Here are some other benefits to switching to solid shampoo bars:

  • Plastic free solid shampoo is more sustainable than recycling. A whooping 91% of plastic isn’t recycled so it’s more than likely your plastic shampoo bottles have at one point ended up in landfill.

  • Due to their natural qualities, switching to solid shampoo bars will make your hair healthier!

  • Save money when you switch to solid shampoo bars. Each Shampoo bar lasts up to 65 washes making them the perfect replacement to plastic shampoo bottles

  • Switch to solid shampoo bars if you like to travel light.

How to Use

All of our Shampoo Bars come in plastic free wrapping and each lasts up to 65 washes making them the perfect replacement to plastic shampoo bottles!

Moisten the solid shampoo pebble between your hands. Rub it in your hands or on your scalp, the shampoo will foam like a classic shampoo. Rinse.

Lather up in your hands and then rub through your hair (this won’t create the soapy suds you’re used to from a shampoo bar, but rather a creamy paste).

I hope the above helps and don't forget, you can always get in touch if you have any more questions by email support@mylittleecoshop.com. If you do purchase one of our shampoos, we'd also love to hear how you get on and don't forget to leave a review when asked by email.

  • Amy Salmon

Hello, I am interested in trying your shampoo and conditioner bars for the first time and am impressed by the wide range but am unsure which ones to get my hair is very frizzy and I have dandruff/psoriasis in my head (though that could be a build up of plastic as I have not yet fully come off of plastic products due to not finding ones that suit me) and I have coloured hair (not blonde) so my routes are also slightly dry but overall my hair is actually very oily at the minute so I am really unsure as to which shampoo and conditioner to go for. Any help would be much appreciated.

I’m interested in trying your shampoo bars for the first time but unsure which to try. I have coloured hair so was thinking the henna and juniper bar for me? Is there a conditioner that goes with this please?
Also, my daughter has very thick, very long blond hair that is very dry on the ends. What would you recommend for her please?
    Many thanks,
